The 2003 edition of the Pete Perna Invitational was a much anticipated affair. The rider turnout was good with over 160 entrants even though the
weather forcast was for rain, rain and more rain no rain had fallen overnight. Practice went well and Pete gave out the prizes during the riders meeting. The first races got off in the dry but the combined 125 Pro /
over 30 Pro class got the first rain making the track quite slick. The rain came and went and by the later motos the track was well watered but actually had got better as the water soaked into the track. The Pete
Perna Invitational was won by Scot Knox on his number 51 Yamaha with the outcome challenged all the way to the flag. Cycle & Marine Sponsored riders won the 50 Oil Injected class by Mike Henderson, the 125
and 250 novice classes couresty of Chis Permenter, the school boy class with Ozzy Barbaree, the 65 class by Jake Green, the 125 & 250 Pro classes as well as the 4 stroke class by way of John Adam.
Congradulations to all the entrants, winners and even the spectators who seemed to have a great time playing in the dirt and mud.
I would like to mention that even though the track did get quite muddy with all the rain, I did not see any one injured all day. Get job by the
track personel and of course the racers. See all of you at next years race.
This race was PBMX’s final race of the season and next years season is scheduled to start Saturday February 14th.
